Poster Series: Metal Influencers
The goal of the poster series was to promote hypothetical event held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The event features 3 exhibitions honoring 3 pioneers of the metal music genre; Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. These 3 bands have a heavy influence on heavy metal and how it evolved. Black Sabbath made it heavy, Iron Maiden infused punk and progressive metal, and Metallica brought the speed and anger that defines metal today. My poster designs utilize a custom typeface to bring the posters together, while color palettes unique to each band help set them apart from each other.
Initial Design
This idea of the initial design was to use a repeating effect to bring the eye to the rest of the poster
New Direction
This new direction was intended to imitate the identity of their respective bands, and using the repetition idea from the previous direction
Typeface
Using Ariel Black as a base, I designed a typeface to be better suited for the posters to unify them
Integrating the typeface into the design and color changes
Final Design
The final design uses the custom typeface to dominate the space and unify the posters
